Mari and Brad McNeil It is with great pleasure that we recount the experience of selling our home in Cambridge. There can be many unpleasantries in the business of selling a home, but ours was nothing of the sort.
When we decided to list our home, we both agreed that we still very much loved our home . . .
but that it was time to find something bigger. We had poured seven years of heart and soul into our home, fitting everything with the best, upgraded materials and custom design.
The decision to sell was a bittersweet moment. We wanted a larger home but we were sad to depart from such a meticulously loved and painstakingly planned home.
We met with six of the top Cambridge real estate agents. We were looking for an agent that displayed genuine interest in the attributes of the house, offered a fair market value and a solid strategy to sell. None of the six agents left us feeling very comfortable in these areas.
Feeling disappointed and ready to resign ourselves to thinking this was how things might have to be. We were then introduced to Gene Koeslag and arranged a meeting to show him our home.
Right away, we knew Gene was different from the other agents. There was a genuine friendliness and familiarity about him, as though we had known him for years. Right from the start, armed with pad and pen, he began taking notes of every detail of our home. By the time we sat down to hear what he had to offer, he had accumulated a whole page of detail on our home and had come prepared with solid research. In the end, he offered exactly what we had in mind as a dollar figure to sell our home and precisely the same strategy in mind as ourselves to sell it.
We had two very small children and a large Labrador retriever in the house at the time. A slow painful sale was out of the question since we had planned to occupy the house during showings. Gene’s team kept us very well informed of upcoming showings with very reasonable lead times and provided good feedback after each showing.
In the end, with much competitive interest, our house sold in one week at 100% of our asking price. Overall, we believe Gene’s straightforward, no nonsense approach and strength in negotiation were the cause for such a smooth sale. We would be only too happy to recommend as genuine and professional agent as Gene.
